Embassy & Consular Attestation in Dubai
“Embassy attestation” can mean two different directions: a foreign document entering the UAE, or a UAE document going abroad. We map the correct legalization chain before you spend time on the wrong stamp, pre-check the document and supporting translations, and coordinate the applicable MOFA, mission and submission/courier steps where those channels are available.

MOFA Digital Attestation changed some embassy workflows
For eligible UAE-issued digital documents, MOFA can now determine a digital route. Depending on the selected destination option, the service may include MOFA plus the relevant UAE mission in the destination country. If the destination instead requires its own embassy or consulate in the UAE, that foreign-mission step is completed separately.
What we check before embassy submission
- Country of issue and country of intended use
- Whether MOFA, a UAE mission abroad, or a foreign mission in the UAE is the next step
- Whether the specific mission requires translation, appointment, original document, copy, form or supporting ID
- Whether the document qualifies for a digital route instead of physical submission
There is no universal “MOJ stamp before every embassy” rule
Translation requirements are mission-specific. UAE law regulates legal translators and the Ministry of Justice registers accredited legal translators, but that does not mean every foreign embassy requires an MOJ-stamped translation for every document. We check the destination mission’s current instructions instead of assuming.
Apostille does not replace the UAE attestation chain
As of 12 September 2026, the UAE is not listed as a Contracting Party to the HCCH Apostille Convention. MOFA’s current guidance for foreign-issued documents still requires the applicable issuing-country authentication, UAE Embassy/Consulate step and UAE MOFA route. An apostille from another country therefore should not be assumed to replace UAE requirements.

There is no reliable universal timeline. MOFA publishes its own timing for MOFA routes, but each foreign embassy/consulate sets its own processing method and timing. We confirm the specific mission rather than quoting fixed country-by-country times.
MOFA’s current FAQ says another person can submit an attestation application on behalf of the document owner. A particular foreign embassy or consulate may have its own representation or appointment rules, so that part must be checked separately.
Send the document type, country of issue, country or authority where it will be used, and a clear image of the current stamps/QR or verification features. That is enough to identify the likely next step before originals move.
