An affidavit (iqraar bil-half) in Dubai is a written sworn statement of fact, voluntarily made by a person (the deponent) who confirms under oath before a UAE-licensed Notary Public that the statements are true and accurate. Once notarized, it becomes a legally admissible document before all UAE courts, government authorities, foreign embassies, and international institutions.
8 Types of Affidavits Commonly Needed in Dubai
Single Status Affidavit
Confirms you are unmarried. Required for marriage registration in many countries including India, Philippines, UK, and most EU countries.
Relationship Affidavit
Confirms a family or personal relationship — parent-child, siblings, or other relationships. Often required for sponsorship visas and family reunification.
Financial Affidavit
Declares assets, income, or financial position for legal proceedings, divorce cases, or financial sponsorship applications.
Affidavit of Support
Confirms financial support for visa or immigration applications — shows you will financially support a family member or sponsored person.
Name Change / Discrepancy Affidavit
When your name appears differently across different documents (passport vs degree vs Emirates ID). Explains and confirms the correct legal name.
Affidavit of Identity
Confirms your identity for legal or official purposes — used when other identity documents are missing, expired, or not yet issued.
Business / Commercial Affidavit
Confirms business facts: ownership, signing authority, company transactions, or authorization to act on behalf of a company.
Lost Document Affidavit
Declares the loss of an original document. Required by banks, government authorities, and insurance companies before replacing a lost original.
Making a False Statement in an Affidavit is a Criminal Offence
Under UAE Federal Penal Code, making knowingly false statements in a sworn affidavit constitutes perjury and is a criminal offence. Penalties include fines and imprisonment. All statements in an affidavit must be factual, accurate, and within your personal knowledge.
Frequently Asked Questions
Both are sworn statements — the key difference is who witnesses them and under what legal framework. In the UAE, affidavits are notarized by a UAE Notary Public and are accepted by UAE courts, embassies, and government authorities.
Not necessarily. We offer remote notarization via our Remote E-Notary service, which is fully valid. For clients outside Dubai or abroad, this is the most convenient option.
Both options work. If you already have a drafted affidavit, we review it, ensure it meets UAE notarial requirements, and proceed with notarization. If you need drafting, we prepare it based on your specific situation.
Standard service is same-day. Send us your affidavit details on WhatsApp in the morning and receive your notarized document by end of day.
