UAE is NOT a Member of the Hague Apostille Convention
The United Arab Emirates has not acceded to the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention. This means UAE-issued documents cannot be legalized with a simple Apostille stamp, and the UAE does not accept Apostille-only documents from abroad. All documents require the full MOFA attestation chain.
What Apostille Means for UAE Residents
If you are a UAE resident sending documents TO a Hague Convention country (UK, USA, Australia, EU, etc.), those destination countries may require an Apostille. In this case, the process is: UAE Notary → MOFA Attestation → the destination country issues the Apostille on their end. We handle the UAE side of this process.
Documents FROM UAE → Hague Country
- UAE Notary Public stamp (if required)
- MOFA Attestation — mandatory UAE step
- Destination country issues Apostille on their end
- We handle steps 1 and 2 — same day
Documents FROM Hague Country → UAE
- Apostille alone is NOT accepted by UAE authorities
- Must have: Apostille + UAE Embassy legalization in origin country
- OR: notarization in origin country + full MOFA chain
- Contact us — we advise on exact requirements for your document
Step 1: UAE Notary (if required)
Some documents need notarization before MOFA will accept them.
Step 2: MOFA Attestation — Mandatory
Official UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stamp — required for ALL international use.
Step 3: Destination Country Handles Apostille
For Hague countries: after MOFA attestation, the destination country's authority issues the Apostille. We coordinate with you on this final step.
